Prayer at LCC

Prayer Works!

We believe that prayer changes things! We carry such a conviction as a church about the importance of prayer, that we have created various settings both in-person and online, for prayer to take place.

3 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Tuesday 29th April - Thursday 1st May

We're excited to be launching our 3 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING.  Do you find prayer difficult? Many do, so why not join a prayer session with others, to build up your confidence? It. Really. HELPS!  Some of the sessions will be in-person (at the church centre) and some

will be online (via Zoom, so you can join in from wherever you are).  Some of the sessions will include worship and prayer, and others just prayer. We also encourage you to engage in the discipline of fasting. This can take different forms, but it will help you to disconnect from the world system, values and distractions, and to focus in prayer for this short period.

A. 3 WAYS TO PRAY

Here's how and when you can take part:

1. Pray TOGETHER
It’s so important to maintain the Spiritual Discipline of praying together as the Body of Christ. We’re meeting at the following times (for prayer (and worship) either in-person or on Zoom - ALL are welcome:

  • Tuesday 29th April: Power Hour Prayer 7:30 -7:30pm (ON ZOOM)
  • Wednesday 30th April: Morning Prayer 7:00 -7:45am (ON ZOOM) // Personal Prayer & Prayer Triplets
  • Thursday 1st May: Encounter (Prayer & Worship) 7:30-9:30pm (IN-PERSON - MAIN HALL)

The details for all Zoom prayer sessions (Wednesdays) is: Meeting Id: 390 928 350 and Passcode: prayer or use the link: https://tinyurl.com/lcczoomprayer

2. Pray in TRIPLETS
Prayer is sometimes easier and encouraging when done with other people. Jesus Himself taught about the power of agreement when we come together to pray.

This year we are making a focus of encouraging everyone at LCC to form a “triplet” for the 21 Days. This means agreeing to be in regular contact (e.g. daily) with 2 other people  to encourage  them, to find short bursts of time over the 3 weeks to pray together (e.g.  in person, on Zoom or other Video chat services). You could form a WhatsApp group and/ or send text messages to spur each other on along the way. Feel free to add one or two more people to your group if that’s helpful.

Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1. Approach a couple of people  who you could ‘journey with’ for the 21 Days.
  • Step 2. Find a way to stay connected (e.g. by setting up a WhatsApp group)
  • Step 3. Agree how/ when you can pray together over the 21 Days.
  • Step 4. Register your triplet using the button below
  • Step 5. Encourage one another daily with worship songs, Bible verses, prayer requests as well as answers to prayer along the way!

3. Pray ALONE
Prayer Focus & Prayer Guide

We encourage you to have your own (extended) times with the Lord in prayer over these 3 Days. To help, you could:

  • Download and read our Prayer eGuide, and try different ways to pray. You'll also discover different “Models of Prayer” that help bring focus to your prayer life. Way not use the Prayer Theme below to help guide you daily.
  • Consider Fasting in some way which is a powerful spiritual discipline. For this reason we recommend that everyone undertakes some form of fasting as part of their participation in the 3 Days of Prayer (please read the Prayer Guide for more details). Please see the section below which contains further resources to help you with fasting:

B. PRAYER THEME AND FOCUS:

The overarching theme for these 3 days and year ahead as a church community, is taken from Isaiah 54:1-3, "Stretch & Strengthen". We read the prophetic promise to the nation of Israel to enlarge and increase. However in the metaphor, God likened the process to enlarging a tent; a stretching (of the tent flaps and guy ropes) whilst not neglecting the strengthening of it’s stakes. Both are needed! This clarion call comes to each of us about stretching into God’s purposes missionally, but also strengthening the church as we do. Over these next 3 days, please feel free to use the following prayer focus to help you pray

  1. Tuesday 29th April:
    • SHOUT: This is about an expectation and declaration over what is yet to come.  Please Thank God:
      1. For the shift, and the new era we have stepped into as a church.
      2. For the harvest of lost people who will find Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
      3. For the joy of seeing salvation and signs of the Kingdom in all our gatherings.
  2. Wednesday 30th April:
    • STRETCH: This is a season of stretch for us all missionally. Please pray:
      1. For the move to the Jubilee Centre on 8th June, as we make space for growth on a Sunday. Pray for provision (finance and people for teams), preparations and planning that all teams are doing. Pray for a blessing on the Jubilee Church family as they kindly release their building for us to use on Sunday mornings.
      2. That the lost will be found as we step up in Personal Evangelism. Will you intentionally pray for your “ONE” this year, who doesn’t know Jesus (yet!) Pray for opportunities to invite them to Church, share your story of faith or to pray with them.
      3. For the Life on the Streets Team (LOTS) as they reach-out relationally to our community once a month, in personal evangelism. Pray for every conversation, and resource handed out, to be protected and fruitful.
  3. Thursday 1st May:
    • STRENGTHEN: As we stretch, please pray for strengthening in our:
      1. Discipleship/ Apprenticeship: A desire and commitment to grow in our relationship with Jesus this year and to become more like Him. Pray for engagement in the forthcoming "Practicing the Way" Course by the church starting 15th May.
      2. Structures: We need to release leaders and recruit in the areas of administration, media, governance (Trustees) and finance (book-keeping).
      3. Teams: For teams to increase, and go to the next level, as we serve in a bigger space on a Sunday.
    •

Let's thank God for the answers to prayer!

PRE-SERVICE PRAYER

Every week from 9:45 - 10:15am, people gather in our Life Lounge to pray before the service starts. These are great times of faith and expectation, and can be a huge blessing to people. They can also be times for people to receive prayer ministry too. Everyone is invited to come. Your presence will be a blessing to someone else, and you will be blessed too. So why not form a new habit of coming earlier on a Sunday - you may also receive a cheeky pre-service drink?

Encounter Nights

On the first Thursday of each month, we hold our Encounter Nights.  These provide an opportunity for us to come together as the church family for an extended time of worship, and to pray together.  These nights can help you develop in your prayer life, along with others, as you encounter God's presence through prayer and praise.

This will take place in person from 7:30 - 9:00pm (doors open at 7:15pm).

For details of when our next meeting is running, please visit our CALENDER PAGE.

Prayer and Fasting

We regularly hold periods of prayer and fasting throughout the year.  We normally hold 21 days of prayer towards the beginning of the year, and then have weeks of prayer at different intervals.  During these periods of focussed prayer, special prayer gatherings will take place, either in person or on Zoom.

Prayer Groups

Every week, we have teams of people from Life Community Church who gather to pray for all things big and small. They will pray for specific requests from people in the community (near or far), for church matters, as well as issues in the wider community/ world.

If you would like to send in a request, then you just fill in the form below.

If you have an interest in joining a group to pray, then EMAIL US HERE: info@life-cc.org
