Prayer Works!

We believe that prayer changes things! We carry such a conviction as a church about the importance of prayer, that we have created various settings both in-person and online, for prayer to take place.

4 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Wednesday 20th - Saturday 23rd May

We're excited to be launching our 4 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING. Do you find prayer difficult? Many do, so why not join a prayer session with others, to build up your confidence? It. Really. HELPS! Some of the sessions will be in-person (at the LCC Centre, Charlotte Street) and some will be online (via Zoom, so you can join in from wherever you are). Some of the sessions will include worship and prayer, and others just prayer. We also encourage you to engage in the discipline of fasting. This can take different forms, but it will help you to disconnect from the world system, values and distractions, and to focus in prayer for this short period.

A. 3 WAYS TO PRAY

Here's how and when you can take part:

1. GATHERINGS (Pray Together)
It’s so important to maintain the Spiritual Discipline of praying together as the Body of Christ. We’re meeting at the following times (for prayer (and worship) either in-person or on Zoom - ALL are welcome:

Wednesday 20th May: Power Hour Prayer 7:30 - 8:30pm (ON ZOOM)
Friday 22nd May: War! 7:00 - 8:30pm (IN-PERSON - LIFE LOUNGE, LCC CENTRE)
Saturday 23rd May: Power Hour Prayer 7:00 - 8:00pm (ON ZOOM)

2. GROUPS (Pray Triplets or Life Communities) - Thursday 21st May
Prayer is often easier and encouraging when done with other people. Jesus Himself taught about the power of agreement when we come together to pray. This year we're encouraging everyone at LCC to form a “triplet” for these 4 Days. This means agreeing to be in regular contact (e.g. daily) or on Thursday 21st May. Find short bursts of time over the 4 days (or just the Thursday) to pray together (e.g. in person, on Zoom or other Video chat services). You could form a WhatsApp group and/ or send text messages to spur each other on along the way. Feel free to add one or two more people to your group if that’s helpful.

3. GUIDED (Pray Alone)
Prayer Focus & Prayer Guide

We encourage you to have your own (extended) times with the Lord in prayer over these 4 Days. To help, you could:

Download and read our Prayer eGuide (published in January for our 21 Days of Prayer), and try different ways to pray. You'll also discover different “Models of Prayer” that help bring focus to your prayer life. Way not use the Prayer Theme below to help guide you daily.
Consider Fasting in some way which is a powerful spiritual discipline. For this reason we recommend that everyone undertakes some form of fasting as part of their participation in the 3 Days of Prayer (please read the Prayer Guide for more details). Please see the section below which contains further resources to help you with fasting:

B. PRAYER THEME AND FOCUS:

The overarching theme for these 4 days and year ahead as a church community, is taken from Ezekiel 47:1-12, "WORSHIP TO WITNESS". In this prophetic passage we read about the river of God that flows away from the Temple into the community towards the east. The river gets progressively deeper. This year, we are believing for our worship to go to new heights and to experience the manifest presence of God, to grow deeper in our discipleship, and for our witnessing to become more fruitful within the local community. Over these next 4 days, please feel free to use the following prayer focus to help you pray:

Wednesday 20th May:
- WORSHIPPING (John 4:19-26 // Ephesians 2:19-22): As we gather together to worship God, let's believe and thank Him for:
  1. God's Presence to be manifested among us in special ways.
  2. Each of us to contribute and step out in spiritual gifts and expressed love among each other.
  3. The joy of seeing salvation and signs of the Kingdom amongst us.
Thursday 21st May:
- WALKING (Colossians 2:6-7 // Proverbs 3:5-6): As we continue to walk and follow God's leading as a church, please thank God and believe for:
  1. Continued Unity and Spiritual Growth among those for whom LCC is home.
  2. Discipleship/ Apprenticeship: A desire and commitment for all to grow in their relationship with Jesus this year and to become more like Him. Pray for increased engagement in the forthcoming "Life Community Groups" in the Autumn term.
  3. An increase in the provision of finance and team, for the vision the Lord is leading us into.
Friday 22nd May:
- WITNESSING (Ephesians 6:10-18): Let's contend for expansion and growth of the church, believing for:
  1. The taking of spiritual territory around Leamington, specifically the Sydenham and Brunswick wards.
  2. Fruitful Evangelism through Life on the Streets (L.O.T.S.) and Evangelism in Coventry as we reach-out relationally to our community once a month
  3. Boldness and opportunity for us all to share the Love of Jesus in our personal evangelism.
Saturday 23rd May:
- WAITING (Isaiah 40:27-31 // Isaiah 43:18-21): Let's wait on God to listen to His voice and seek His face. Believe that God will speak to you personally for your own life, or for someone else in this New Season of the church.

PRE-SERVICE PRAYER

Every week from 9:45 - 10:15am, people gather in the Main Auditorium and Family Rooms (at Jubilee Centre) to pray before the service starts. These are great times of faith and expectation, and can be a huge blessing to people. They can also be times for people to receive prayer ministry too. Everyone is invited to come. Your presence will be a blessing to someone else, and you will be blessed too. So why not form a new habit of coming earlier on a Sunday - you may also receive a cheeky pre-service drink?

Encounter Nights

On the first Thursday of each month, we hold our Encounter Nights at the LCC Centre (Charlotte Street). These provide an opportunity for us to come together as the church family for an extended time of worship, and to pray together. These nights can help you develop in your prayer life, along with others, as you encounter God's presence through prayer and praise.

This will take place in person from 7:30 - 9:00pm (doors open at 7:15pm).

Prayer and Fasting

We regularly hold periods of prayer and fasting throughout the year. We normally hold 21 days of prayer towards the beginning of the year, and then have weeks of prayer at different intervals. During these periods of focussed prayer, special prayer gatherings will take place, either in person or on Zoom.

Prayer Groups

Every week, we have teams of people from Life Community Church who gather to pray for all things big and small. They will pray for specific requests from people in the community (near or far), for church matters, as well as issues in the wider community/ world.
